Myth 1: 'IP68 means waterproof forever.' In reality, seals degrade with heat, chemicals, and age. IP68 certifies protection under specified conditions for the device's rated life, not indefinitely.
Myth 2: 'Higher is always better.' IP69K beats IP68 for jets, but IP68 beats IP69K for immersion. The 'best' rating depends on the application, not the number.
Myth 3: 'X means no protection.' X means the protection was not tested or specified. The device may still offer protection; it simply wasn't certified.
